Svet Boogie Band - SVET BOOGIE BAND was organized in 2003 by Svet, a blues musician, composer and performer extraordinaire from Minsk (Belarus). Svet Boogie Band is recognized as Belarus’ #1 blues band. The band is one of the leaders of the Moscow blues club scene, it takes part in festivals in Europe. Svet Boogie Band’s repertoire includes Chicago blues classics and piano boogies, as well as more stylistically varied own material. Nothing But Love, the band’s latest album, was released in Minsk in September, 2005. It contains nothing but the band’s own material. Song from the CD were written during the band’s extensive spring-summer 2005 club tour and reflect transformation of the band’s sound. Receiving positive reviews from the Belarusian music press and warm welcome by the blues communities in Minsk and Moscow sure gave the guys a great boost of morale. Svet Boogie Band’s musical diversity and versatility comes from the experience and various musical backgrounds of its members. Drums/bass rhythm section includes two brothers: Aleksei and Tikhon Zolotovs. Both were well known at Minsk’s jazz scene before joining Svet Boogie Band. The have developed a great understanding and provide a solid base for the band’s sound. Aleksei Al Shilovich (guitar) is one the most talented blues guitarists in Belarus. A Polish journalist, impressed by Svet’s energy and stamina on stage once nicknamed him “the Rubberman”. He’s showing some great examples of boogie-woogie piano, both electrified and country harmonica and vocals that may sound lowdown one minute and naughty the next. Besides, Svet creates a unique atmosphere of love and enjoyment at the show. Seeing Svet Boogie Band live is always an experience and inspiration. It leaves those familiar with the blues culture well satisfied, while those new to the blues – wondering how come this “sadly named” music style can be so enjoyable.
